Last night, Monday April 7th, Oprah hosted her sixth webcast with Eckhart Tolle. In this webcast they explored the sixth chapter of his book A New Earth, entitled “Breaking Free”.
Oprah began the evening with reading some excerpts from Eckhart’s new book entitled “Stillness Speaks”.
Oprah began the evening with a beautiful poem entitled “Lost” by David Wagoner. Eckhart then continued with leading everyone into a moment of stillness. After the moment of stillness, Oprah commented how easy these moments have now become and how much longer they seem than just the actual 10 seconds that they last. To this Eckhart gave a beautiful response saying that if you bring your full attention to any moment it becomes holy. And this goes back to my views that people who for example are strongly tied to a religion seem to only “find” or “feel” holiness in places of worship, but truly when we awaken and become still to feel the essence of our being - that is Holy.
The chapter on the Pain-Body is special to me not because I have a heavy pain-body, but because it allowed me to understand and gain a deeper understanding of many people who are close to me and carry very heavy pain-bodies of their own. Eckhart explains in this chapter that we all get so caught up with “me and my story” that we revolve our lives and thoughts around that, thinking that is who we are. Well naturally, this is not who you are.
As you get ready to start your weekend, I found this beautiful quote I wanted to share with you:
Happiness is not something ready made… It comes from your own actions. - Dalai Lama
Many beautiful messages have come from the Dalai Lama. Today I found that this one spoke to me the most as I feel it really expresses the idea that your happiness IS in your own hands. No one else has power over you or can affect you unless you allow them. In other words, your actions mediate what experiences you bring forth into your life.
