You know that saying “Live each day as if it were your last“… Well do you actually agree with it or dismiss it as some unrealistic nonsense? Do you adhere to its advice and strive each day to achieve just that?
They say that people really get the true meaning of that saying when they are diagnosed with some terminal illness and some not even then. But should we embrace it? Is it a valuable piece of advice or is it going to lead us into bankruptcy or obesity or who knows what else?
So first I want to speak to those of you who may be reading this and thinking:
“No way - not a realistic way for me to live”
My first question to you is naturally - why?
Is it a fear of letting go that prevents you from enjoying your life more each day? Are you bombarded by everyday stresses about kids, spouses, health and bills? Or do you think that way to live is just too carefree for a structured individual like yourself?

Religion always seems to draw people in for debates and discussions, for good or for worse. Recently I have been (by chance) encountering people who bring up the topics of religion and religious practices. I have also heard lots of questions and concerns that relate to religion on Oprah and Eckhart’s webcasts of a New Earth, over the past 10 weeks, relating to religion versus spirituality.
I know the reason why religion was such a hot topic for the past hundreds of years…it was a matter of life or death - literally! But today I feel that the perspective has greatly changed and so I begin to ponder on what makes religion work or not work for people today, besides the obvious, and I came up with several answers.

I am a frequent visitor to TED - Ideas Worth Spreading and love their video talks and content! You can find amazing videos there on almost any topic and they are usually very valuable resources or just fun to watch for personal interest.
I recently had the chance to discover a great talk given by Jill Bolte Taylor, which I thought would be perfect to pass onto you as it fits in so well to discovering higher awareness levels, which greatly represents Evolving Beings.
Jill Bolte Taylor is a well respected neuroanatomist and has actually also just made the cover of TIME magazine for the 100 most influential people in the world issue for 2008. In this talk she explains her experience while she was having a stroke and recollects what happened to her piece by piece and what profound effect this had on her level of spiritual awareness! Check out the video below and feel free to comment your thoughts and feelings on this talk.
I found this video really astounding and could not believe what I heard come out of her mouth. It is miraculous how during a tragically vulnerable experience, this woman had the power and strength to raise herself to a higher awareness and turn a medically devastating stroke into a “stroke of insight”. Through this experience she not only changed her own life, but now is changing the lives of others!

Last week I decided to do something that had been on my mind for a few months now. What was it? Well let me explain how I got to the idea in the first place, before I tell you what it was.
A few months ago, I decided to go through my jewellery drawer and reconnect with what was in there. I consider myself a minimalist and hence do not like anything extra in the house in terms of clutter. I am in no way, you know that saying, a “pack-rat”. “If I don’t use it, then I don’t need it and hence it should not be there” is I guess a general way of understanding my outlook on “stuff”.
I don’t like to have many versions of one thing, because
a) you lose appreciation for your items more and
b) there is only so much one needs and can use at a time
Well I follow that idea very well when it comes to household stuff and knick-knacks, clothes and even food in the fridge. So I thought, how about my sentimental and precious jewellery pieces?

Yesterday was Earth Day as most of us know and in today’s times that is a day I feel we should all take to heart very seriously!
Why? Well some of us may still wonder that, but you would literally have to live under a rock, or be completely ignorant not to realize the fragile state our Earth is in. Now here is the biologist in me speaking when I say, that all the hype about pollution, global warming, the ozone layer, natural disasters and species extinction is NOT exaggerated!
So the day is done…did you notice it? Did you do something special for it? Or did it pass just like any other day? And how about today - if you did think about it yesterday, did you give it another thought today?
The reason I ask these questions is because too often, special days, occasions, meaningful dates get focus only on that one day, and that’s it! They vanish from our minds and our actions! Take Christmas for example. Aside from all the shopping and excessive preparation we do for that “one day”. The idea normally is that on Christmas or around Christmas we should be and most are nicer, more generous, more charitable, etc. But what about the rest of the year? That is what I am trying to get at. We treat each other “nicer” at Christmas and then what, forget to be nice and charitable, etc. for the rest of the year?
