Book Review: Tribes - We Need You To Lead Us

Tribes by Seth GoddinThanks to my husband, Markus being introduced to a new book recently and bringing it home, I have had the chance to read something, that I normally perhaps would not have picked out on my own.

The book is called “Tribes: We Need You to Lead Us” and it is written by bestselling author and blogger Seth Godin. It is different in that it is not a spirituality book, definitely not a health book, nor is it your typical personal development book. And while it is popular and mostly marketed to the business sector, it is a book that in my opinion everyone should read, regardless of the nature of their work.

It is a revolutionary book, that ties in impeccably with the idea of being an “evolving being”. It is a book for us now and today, and filled with messages to take for the making of the new world to come. [Read more]

When Words Are Not Enough - Simply Allow

DandelionThere have been many times in my life where I have been blessed by an act of kindness, compassion or extreme thoughtfulness. Whether it is a meaningful gift, word or act we receive, sometimes saying “thank you” just does not seem to cut it.

Think of yourself and how many times perhaps you were so overcome with emotion towards a person or people, who went out of their way to tell you how much you mean to them.

Think of all those times where you received some gift that showed you that someone out there listens to you and cares for you deeply.

Think of the times where someone said something to you, which was said at the perfect moment you needed it and made all the difference in your life.

How do you say thank you? How do you show your gratitude for these gifts, words or moments that have meant more to you than perhaps anyone will ever know?

Thus in this article, we will examine just that - what to do when words like “thank you” are not enough. [Read more]

The End Is Near – But The End Is Just A Beginning

Sun Set

Each day, each one of us faces many “endings”. Each day we have to face the end of a day. We end weeks, months and even years, and while all these are going on, most of us do just fine, because we know that there is a new day, new week, month and even year that is waiting for us.

Most of us move through each of these moments without much distress, but how about when we end a relationship, a job or a life in a certain place or as a certain person. Most of us do not seem to do as well with those moments. But why not?

Just like we bid farewell to the day that ended with the belief that a new one will begin, we should end any of those with a belief that a new “one” will come too. Why is it that we do not have the same faith when it comes to those things?

Alexander Graham Bell wrote:

“When one door closes, another opens; but we often look so long and so regretfully upon the closed door that we do not see the one which has opened for us.”

It is thus the same for all of us in life. Doors never close and things never end without new doors opening or new times beginning. [Read more]

Last year I was introduced to a movie that was in the making and set to come out this February 2009. Excitement was in the air, as it seemed another life changing documentary was in the works. There was The Secret, there was The Wheel of Life and today there is The Compass.

The Compass is the latest documentary that has been released that looks at our lives from a deeper angle and stimulates growth, learning and change. It moves us “from where we are, to where we want to be” - literally!

It is packed with world renowned speakers, authors and coaches who are experts in various areas of personal development. No matter where you are in your life today, “The Compass” has something to offer you, whether it be motivation, inspiration, hope or a new perspective on things.

So without any further adieu, allow me to share my thoughts and feelings about “The Compass” and introduce to you this fantastic new movie. [Read more]

I CAN DO IT! Toronto 2009 Conference - Day 4

I CAN DO IT! TORONTOThe fourth day of the I CAN DO IT! Toronto conference took place on Sunday April 5, 2009. It was a full day session and the speakers that we chose to see were John Holland and Cheryl Richardson.

John was the morning speaker, and his lecture focused on the work in his latest book “Power of the Soul: Inside Wisdom for an Outside World“. As on Friday’s lecture (Day 2 of the conference), John was not just an entertaining pleasure to listen to, but also a moving, wisdom filled presence that moved our inner being deeply.

Cheryl was the afternoon speaker and her lecture focused on her latest book called “The Art of Extreme Self-Care: Transform Your Life One Month at a Time“. In one word Cheryl was phenomenal! Her vibrant energy, her radiant spirit and genuine care for her audience was unmistakable.

Hence, in today’s review, I will be sharing with you John’s and Cheryl’s messages and my experiences of learning and growth from these two wonderful teachers.

As for the conference series, this is finally the last part of the 4-day “I CAN DO IT!” conference. It was an amazing experience, and one that I not only highly recommend attending for the growth of one’s spirit, but also one which I would eagerly attend myself again! [Read more]
